The Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP)

The overarching framework for the M&E system is the PMP which is made up of organized indicators that Y.E.A.H. requires to monitor progress of its campaigns, and provides a logical order for collecting and analyzing information. Y.E.A.H obtains this information from partner activity reports, and from secondary analysis of research conducted by others. Routine review of the PMP provides a picture of how Y.E.A.H. is performing against set targets.

The Y.E.A.H. Implementation Unit collects information as stipulated in the PMP using a set of data collection forms. Once the forms are completed and returned to the M&E Officer, the information is assessed for completeness and accuracy, and sometimes adjusted for double counting, and then entered into an automated database. This information is collated, processed, summarized, and readied for dissemination. For details see M&E Manual:

Media content analysis

Between 2005 and 2007, Y.E.A.H. also routinely collected information on how the print media covered and portrayed issues pertinent to its campaigns such as sexual exploitation of young people also known as ‘something for something love’, and male gender issues.

Listeners’ letters Analysis

The Y.E.A.H. Implementation Unit also routinely analyzes the content of listeners’ letters to assess young people’s self report on how RSD Rock Point 256 motivates or influences their attitudes and behaviours.

Quarterly Review Meeting

Y.E.A.H. organizes national and regional quarterly review meetings. These meetings are attended by a cross-section of stakeholders, who get to learn about the progress of the campaign, share experiences on what is working and what is not. The stakeholders provide evidence of the qualitative impact of campaigns based on their experiences with regard to Y.E.A.H. activities, and propose action points for the future.

During these meetings, Y.E.A.H. also gets the opportunity to collect and synthesize case studies
