Life Choices DVD and Life Choices Facilitation Guide
Life Choices DVD is an interactive DVD used by youth groups and schools. The DVD follows the story of a young adolescent girl, Joyce who is confronted with situations for which she has to make a decision. The situations to decisions cover HIV testing and disclosure, transactional relationships and other life choices. The audience watches several short episodes and then makes a decision for Joyce. After selecting a choice, the next video segment depicts the consequences of that choice. The DVD has eight possible outcomes depending on the audience’s decision. The video is accompanied by a discussion guide which includes various participatory activities designed to help youth group leaders lead participants in discussion about the topics and issues faced by Joyce.
The scripts from the Life Choices DVD have also been produced as drama scripts for use by community drama groups who do not have access to electricity or DVD equipment.

Listen in…Look out is a discussion guide designed to help Rock Point 256 radio listening groups conduct meaningful discussions around the issues raised in each episode. The initial version has been developed for episodes 1-13. The booklet has been produced in English.

The topics covered are: Responsible Parenting, Gender Based Violence, Respect and Care, Faithfulness, and HIV Couple Counseling and Testing. Each 7-10 minute video uses silent drama to illustrate common practices for each topic. The accompanying facilitation guide aids the group facilitator to lead participatory discussions around the issues depicted during each video. Y.E.A.H trains facilitators, teachers and group leaders who work primarily with men and boys to use these videos to trigger discussion.
Be a Man Forum Theatre Dramas
Forum Theatre is a unique form of community drama that engages the audience to identify solutions to various social and development problems. The Be a Man dramas address Gender Based Violence, Faithfulness and HIV Counseling and Testing. Each open-ended drama lasts approximately 10 minutes, after which members of the audience are invited on stage to act out solutions to the presented problem. Key to the technique is a member of the drama team called the ‘joker’ who is responsible for encouraging the audience to think critically about the presented scenario, feel comfortable about participating in the drama, and correct misinformation, while at the same time keeping the audience entertained. Y.E.A.H trains community drama groups in the Forum Theatre technique and provides them with the scripts for these community dramas upon request.
