True Manhood Campaign

YEAH director Ms Anne Gamurorwa (Right) and the Director General of Uganda Aids Commission (UAC), Dr. David Kihumuro Apuuli (3rd from left) addressing the Press at the True-Manhood launch.

The True Manhood Campaign is YEAH’s current campaign and was launched on 2nd June 2009. The campaign is addressing Alcohol use and abuse, Violence Against Women and Something for Something Love because research carried out by YEAH shows these risky behaviours as being highly relevant to and prevalent among Uganda’s young people.

The launched campaign aims at empowering young men with skills to be able to assess their personal risk of alcohol abuse and commit to drinking responsibly or not at all, regardless of social pressure, to solve conflict using non-violent means; and to be able to resist relationships where gifts, favours or opportunities are exchanged for sex. The campaign also targets young women and fathers to support the young men to change.
